Classic Rug Care, formerly known as “Abadjian Oriental Carpet Care” was established in 1925. The Company quickly became recognised worldwide and very well respected for their specialist rug washing, cleaning, repair and restoration services.
Haig Abadjian joined the family firm in 1952 where he helped develop and perfect the technique of antique washing (a closely guarded Armenian secret that only a few companies in the world could perform at the time) and finishing rugs and carpets for manufacturers, importers and retailers operating near the Port of London. At one time, the Company operated out of its own building in London and employed more than eighty staff.
Richard and Ann Prucejoined with Haig during the 1990’s and with his retirement imminent, Haig became mentor and advisor, gradually letting Richard and Ann take over the day to day running of the Company.
Today the Classic Rug Care “Rug Spa” is located in a converted hay barn overlooking 100 acres of the beautiful ancient woodland of Epping Forest just inside London’s infamous M25 Motorway.
We continue to offer specialist rug services to the rug owners and trade clientele.
Richard and Ann became the first UK participants and Classic Rug Care was one of the first companies outside USA to be accepted onto the Rug Secrets Program and Classic Rug Care was the first company outside USA, to meet the requirements and be accepted into ARCS (the Association of Rug Care Specialists).
